The Constant Construction of Glorias
For more than 150 years Glories has been the subject of constant reflection, has changed its appearance several times and each time it has been adapted to different needs, often related to mobility. Glories hosted the different dynamics of Barcelona, and has represented them. It was a constant ‘ work- in-progress ‘ and, above all , a ‘ thinking – in-progress ‘.
Formally and functionally Glories has been an undefined space since was conceived by Cerdà. Over the years the city has been built up around it without addressing them directly. And Glories has been formed or as a negative, or having a certain identity and scale of individual elements , such as the United Way Viaduct and the Agbar Tower.
