PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project starts from a reworking of an architecture linked to the socio-cultural context sardinian. The proposed analyzes a typical Sardinian architecture “stazzo Gallurese” and and are re-interpreted by a series of elements that compose the building (form, materials, space, etc.):
The stazzo gallurese has a development with a rectangular floor plan, this element is retained in the proposal.
The building has no openings to the outside but two overlapping doors used for recirculation of air. The stazzo spatially is composed of a single room and all its extensions are along the longitudinal axis. These two features are combined in the project proposal. In most cases the roof of the house is characterized by a sloping roof with two pitched.
The Stazzo has walls with a thickness of 80 cm realized with local granite. This feature plays an important role in the proposed, this element is stored in a symbolic manner. The wall becomes a container of functions, thus leading to greater liberty in the central space of the house.
In the lower part of the main façade is a bench with a depth of 50 cm and in some cases extends along the entire façade of the building, was used for the break or as an aid to climb on the horse. In the proposal this element becomes the basement (granite) on which the building rests. This also guarantees a greater isolation by separating the building from the ground.
The building is composed of a main structure in wood, the interior walls were designed in MDF panel, the floor surface in recycled wood and the exterior panels is in local cork. All materials (wood, granite and cork) form part of the local tradition and they are still use today.
