Thus, instead of\u00a0<em>Homo sapiens<\/em>\u00a0( \u201cHuman the Wise\u201d), we are\u00a0<em>Homo faber<\/em>\u00a0(\u201cHuman the Creator\u201d), an idea taken from Hannah Arendt\u2019s\u00a0<em>The Human Condition<\/em>\u00a0(1958). We construct physical and cultural walls that separate us from nature, so that we may have a stable environment in which our lives can unfold.\u00a0<strong><em>Home faber<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0acknowledges our need for a stable environment and also our desire to constantly re-make it.
