The current Science Block has a fascinating heritage but needs a new life to accommodate new teaching methods. The competition is all about finding a balance between the architectural grain of the existing eclectic campus and a confident and exciting piece of contemporary architecture\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A cornerstone project for the school, this initiative is intended to complement the College\u2019s dynamic approach to science learning, moving away from traditional distinctions between Biology, Chemistry and Physics and adopting an international multidisciplinary and inter- disciplinary policy.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen leading practices were invited to submit an Expression of Interest at the competition\u2019s first stage, from which a shortlist of five was chosen. The shortlisted teams are (in alphabetical order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios<\/li>\n<li>Nicholas Hare Architects<\/li>\n<li>Orms<\/li>\n<li>Sarah Wigglesworth Architects<\/li>\n<li>Tim Ronalds Architects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These teams will now go on to produce detailed concept designs, and from these a winner will be selected in early December. The project value stands at \u00a310 M, and its completion is anticipated by Summer 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Marlborough College is a member of the G20 Schools Group, an informal association of secondary schools with a commitment to excellence and innovation.
