International architecture competition organized by Archallenge, together with Barcelona City Hall , want to project the “Barcelona Youth Hostel”. This is going to be a hostel for young people placed in one of City Hall’s plot in the area. This hostel will be part of Torre Baró’s recovery plan.

It will be a place of meetings between peasants, customers, locals and the beautiful nature environment. Also, it is going to be a way to boost up the district, that lays in one of the most quiet and beautiful areas of the city, far away from the noise and the pollution of the city center.

The plot lies in a beautiful natural surrounding, a privileged location at the end of “Passeig de les Aigües”, which borders all Collserola mountain and let you enjoy an amazing view of Barcelona. Moreover, the ancient aqueduct crosses the plot, what makes this location an even more special place. The topography of this area is very pronounced, what can be a very good opportunity to project a building that adapts itself to this terrain’s complexity. This path is designed to be another entrance to the hostel, being crucial the relationship between this one and the building, because it is going to be the point of connection with all the roads and paths of the National Park of Collserola. So, every team will have to reflect the vital importance that this emplacement has. This path has to/must be understood asanother way of entrance to the National Park, showing how important it is for the district and the connection with the rest of the city.
