Restricted architecture competition for the construction of a mortuary center in the city of Saint-Etienne, France.
In the context of the modernization of its political funeral service, the city of Saint-Etienne will develop a new public service to reach the needs of the families. The complex will have one or more buildings of approximately 1,750 square meters in total and has a crematorium and a funeral home, with the following technical areas:
– The administrative offices and social facilities for staff (13 people):
– 5 rooms for the presentation of the body, including access 24h/24
– Great ceremonial hall for 170 seats and a rest room with capacity for 50 people, a showroom and a restaurant
– Spaces for comfort and hospitality for the families, hospitality room and a relaxation room
– Technical spaces for funeral preparation
– 2 lines of cremation equipment

– A main room
– Outdoor spaces: public parking for around 90-100 cars, memorial garden and green spaces.
The site selected is in the numbers 38, 40 and 43 of the Alfred Colombet rue in Saint-Etienne, near the cemetery of Montmartre.
The estimated cost of the project is € 6,150,000.
