Architectural competition organized by the city of Cava de ‘Tirreni, in Italy, for the Redevelopment of the Piazza S. Francesco in order to reorganize the point of view of the urban context of the square in urban and environmental sense. The approximate area of intervention is 565.70 m2.

The preliminary design shall plan the creation of free area for special events and public underground parking, to replace the one in the existing space. The paper intends to focus also on improving ecological issues, respect for people with disabilities, the use of natural materials, environmental respect as well as studies related to traffic around the area of intervention.

The design of the square have to take in consideration the economic optimization, the sustainability and the reduction of the environmental impact. It is necessary to consider environmental engineering criteria like plants with a lower demand for water, energy, etc..Projects must take into account the limited percentage of operating expenses, care and maintenance of gardens, parks and the square itself.
