In the New National Gallery and Ludwig Museum competition conducted in the framework of the Liget Budapest International Design Competition the jury has not found any entry suitable for implementation based on the assessment criteria, and officially closed that competition after the First Stage. However the jury awarded 5 entries in the First Stage with honourable mentions (in Hungarian these kind of prize awards that are not 1st, 2nd or 3rd prizes are called ‘purchases’), based on their valuable architectural solutions. In the meantime the jury recommended for the Promoters the launch of a new competition in the Fall of 2014. In line with the Jury’s decision the Liget Budapest project team is announcing a two stage architectural design competition for the common building of the New National Gallery and the Ludwig Museum. In the first stage only a short track record (only cultural function, realised, at least 5.000 sq m), staff description and demonstration of financial compliance is required. The invited offices and the best of the entrants meeting the requirements (maximum of 10) will be invited to the second stage and all of them will be awarded with a 20.000 Euro invitation fee. In the 2nd phase of the competition drawings of scale 1:250, a clear energy concept and infographics will be required.
1st prize: 65.000 Euro | 2nd prize: 35.000 Euro | 3rd prize: 25.000 Euro
Total prize money: 325.000 Euro
