2025 National Single Stair Architectural Design Competition

This competition aims to demonstrate how single-staircase designs can unlock more flexible, affordable housing typologies in American cities. Participants must submit a design for one of three urban lots (Portland, San Francisco, or Austin) under clear spatial and regulatory constraints, including height limits, unit density, and maximum floor area. Submissions should include architectural drawings, 3D models, and a written narrative. Up to $30,000 in prizes are available.
