Samuel Kraft: “Humans are makers. We continually shape and re-shape, move and re-move our environment. Thus, instead of Homo sapiens ( “Human the Wise”), we are Homo faber (“Human the Creator”), an idea taken from Hannah Arendt’s The Human Condition (1958). We construct physical and cultural walls that separate us from nature, so that we may have a stable environment in which our lives can unfold. Home faber acknowledges our need for a stable environment and also our desire to constantly re-make it. Furthermore, this design opens the wall between human and nature, connecting the human makers inside with nature’s makers outside….”
