Itsuko Hasegawa Atelier
The New University has been designed as a (re)structuring and community focal element for the Ben Cat District. The foundation of the planning is the integration through design of the both the university population as well as the general community. The university has been designed in the image of an integrated community woven from social and environmental threads. Each strand of the fabric has been dyed with essential aspects of daily life and nature such as casual interaction, eating, fresh air, natural light, indigenous vegetation and rain water. It is expected that by introducing this flexible and expandable structuring system that the university will act as a model and catalyst for green, organic redevelopment of the surrounding areas.
