Architectural competition organized by the Italian town council of Biella for urban and functional reorganization of the Hospital “Degli Infermi”.
The area currently occupied by the hospital will be fully dismantled, with a significant negative impact for the area and for the entire city center either from the point of view of perception, with predictable physical degradation of the buildings and the abandonment of a substantial part of urban area, either from the point of view of the economic and social damage caused by the loss of attractiveness of the surrounding areas.
The competition in relation to the identification and analysis of major elements, the potential physical, economic and social sector, paying attention to the direct and indirect relationships between physical functional area in question, the agglomeration (with special reference to historic center), the existing road network and city support and protection of environmental values and historical-architectural, should provide solutions to particular problems.
